Charcuisine: "pepito" express

Written by: Can Company Category: Recipes

At Can Company we believe that cooking is a sign of love. Love for oneself, for the guests, for the product and of course for gastronomy in general.

Cooking requires attention and time, a lot of imagination and some patience. And thanks to Xesc Reina, the master charcuterie chef with a strong sense of creativity, we discovered that cooking, besides all that, is also synonymous with pleasure: pleasure in learning and pleasure in having fun.

That's why we decided to launch a series of videos with Xesc Reina and María Company at the cooker to promote quick, easy and delicious cooking with Can Company products.

Simple recipes that make us lose our fear of the cooker with the respect it deserves.

Do you feel like you always eat sausage the same way? At Can Company we help you open your mind and create combinations that are as surprising as they are delicious.

Have you ever tried the "varía de queso mahonés" (a cooked sausage with raw milk cheese from Mahón)?

If you haven't, your life is about to change with our special "pepito" express.

What do you need for this recipe? Simple: Can Company's varía de queso, a good loaf of bread, a sun-dried tomato and a frying pan.

The recipe step by step:

1.      We cut the "botifarra" (or "varia" as we call it in Mallorca) into thick slices and remove the skin.

2.      We heat the frying pan without oil, as the fat from the “botifarra” itself will be more than enough.

3.      When the frying pan is very hot, we put in the "varia" until the cheese gradually melts and forms a crispy crust.

4.      We cut the bread, which we can toast or not (according to our own taste).

5.      We put a halved dried tomato on the bread, which brings flavour and juiciness.

6.      Now we just have to finish the masterpiece: on the dried tomato we put a teaspoon of Dijon mustard and a little mint, which brings freshness and some contrast to the strong taste of the pork, cheese and the bread itself.

It's as simple as that.

A colourful, tasty and very appetising starter. And also, an ideal excuse to cook together.

For us at Can Company, it's clear: the family that cooks together stays together.

Watch the recipe video and Xesc Reina will dispel any doubts you have in just five minutes.

Enjoy.
